Movers are very active on the weekends and get booked up quickly. You want to book movers at least 3-4 weeks in advance if you are going to choose to move on a weekend.

Downtime and decompression are needed to stay healthy. A weekend move can mean you’re sacrificing all of your relaxation time. Try to find ways to take breaks throughout the move. You do not want the stress to stick with you throughout the following week because you did not give yourself time to rest.

1. EASIER SCHEDULING
Since everyone else is planning a weekend move, weekdays tend to have more availability. It is much easier to find movers especially when booking a last-minute move
2. SERVICE PROVIDERS ARE READILY AVAILABLE
On the weekend you may need a last minute service or piece of equipment that’s not available until Monday. This is generally not a problem if you move on a weekday. There is less demand for service providers on the weekdays and businesses are more likely to be open!
3. SPLIT THE MOVE BETWEEN TWO DAYS
You can reduce your work downtime by getting movers to load everything in the evening (after 5pm) and unload at your new place first thing the following morning. This way you will likely be done before noon, thus taking only half of a day off work instead of full day should you chose to do everything on the same day.
